Contessas Last

CONTESSAS LAST 1988 silver grulla mare - barn name "Tessa" - 96% Foundation. Tessa was the last foal of CONTESSA PINE, a Paul Curtner bred daughter of POCO PINE. Contessa Pine was an AQHA Superior Halter mare and the dam of 2 AQHA Champions. Her foals earned over 1200 AQHA points in everything from Halter to Hunt Seat and Western Pleasure to Team Penning and over $20,000 in the NCHA.

Tessa's sire SCOOT OAK BAR JAY earned AQHA points in halter and western pleasure. He had 3 performing foals that earned 25.5 performance points and a performance ROM.

Tessa produced 4 outstanding daughters by PRETTY BUCK ZEB. PRETTY ZOEY PINE, a 2000 silver grulla mare, PRETTY ZETTA PINE is 2001 silver grulla mare, ZONA ROSA PINE a 2002 silver grulla mare and ZEBS AJAX a 2003 red dun filly. She produced a silver grulla colt, POCO DUN IN SILVER May 20, 2005 by CE POCO SILVER LT.

Tessa passed away June 27, 2007 shortly after giving birth to her final foal "Scooter", a solid grulla colt. Sadly, Scooter died two days later. Tessa was the best mother. Although you could tell she was in a great deal of pain and distress she tried so hard to nurse Scooter and care for him before she died.

Tessa, an orphan herself. Her dam died giving birth to her at the Kansas State University School of Veterinary medicine. She was the most gentle awesome mare in the world. She loved kids and was shown by her previous owners kids in 4H before I bought her. She was Monty's walk-trot mare at local shows, but was never shown in any registered shows.

Tessa and Scooter are buried in the mare pasture where I'm sure her spirit watches over her pasture mates.

Monty and Tessa ready for walk trot.
